The ground is near again,
I can already feel
the ache in my knees,
not from kneeling,
but crawling-
shackled to the walls
of my own making…
my own protection.
A wiser man
or woman,
may cut the chains
that bind us to,
but I am content-
as of yet-
to drag mine with me,
both the chains and the walls,
grinding them down to nothing more
than dust-
paper thin remnants,
worn away,
Not left behind,
or broken into pieces,
but disintegrated-
so that they are no more and
never again.
